The House Across the Lake is a thriller but you should also know it's a bit paranormal. I did not realize that when I dove in and I found that to be an interesting turn of events. Casey has a severe drinking problem that is heavily pronounced in the novel. After Casey loses her husband to a drowning her cousin/manager and mother send her to the family lake house to keep it low while the media has gone crazy with her latest drinking issue. Casey is/was and actress of sorts.
Katherine was a formal super model, married to Tom a tech investor of a growing social media app. They purchase this overly large home on Lake Greene. Something doesn't seem quite right with the marriage but can Casey pin point exactly what's going on while she watches them in their glass house with her binoculars at her house?
Casey has started to build a friendship with Katherine after saving her from drowning in the lake, that very same lake that Casey's husband drowned in. Shortly after the two gals meet, Katherine goes missing. She is determined to find out what is really going on.
I have enjoyed myself some of Riley Sagers novels but I was less thrilled with this one. I give it a solid 3.5 stars, I found that the heavy drinking with Casey was written in their way too much. There could be more compelling character development. He did provide some twists that I enjoyed and tied up the book with a pretty little bow. If you give this one a go I would love to read your thoughts what did you like or dislike about this novel?
