Daisy Darker | Alice Feeney

Daisy Darker is another great thriller! Daisy was born with a broken heart and that is the start to her life of dying. Her sisters Rose and Lily got to live more normal lives of going to school, making friends while Daisy was to stay home. Her parents Frank who had his love for music and Nancy who had her love for fame but never achieved left their children at arms length.

The story takes place at Seaglass, an old home filled with clocks 80 of them as it was Nana's birthday party that was bringing this broken family back together. Nana collected clocks of all kinds and placed them in this one room. Seaglass is what it sounds on the sea once a beautiful place but now going in a different direction. Nana's birthday is halloween. Each member of the family arrives to celebrate Nana as per her request where that night she is going to update the family on her will. Nana doesn't have much time left to live.

Let's go back to the clocks as Nana has one to "clock in" she likes to keep track of her visitors. At the top of the hour the clocks go off and at midnight Nana is the first to go. At the top of each hour each member of the Darker family starts to get picked off while the tide is hight and no one is able to leave.

Alice Feeney does an excellent job writing in past and present as Daisy takes us through the story. This triller is poetically written not like Alice's other novels and I should say it is quite excellent!

I highly recommend you dive into this book and learn the secrets that each of the Darker Family members are hiding and what will happen to them!
