Gone Girl is on the edge of your seat what is going to happen next thriller. First we learn a bit about Nick Dunne the husband from Missouri. He has a twin sister named Margo "Go" and divorced parents. His mother who finally got her life back after divorcing their dad who thinks every woman is a "dumb bitch". Then we learn about Amy Elliot the only daughter of Rand and Marybeth who has made their life from the story series Amazing Amy. Amy lives in NewYork writing quizzes for a magazine and we learn about her through her diary entries.

Our first impression is the disgust Nick has for his wife while simultaneously we are reading Amy's version of how her and Nick meet and fall in love. Their adorable love story so carefree and witty. But I must not forget that Amy is missing! She is just....gone.

First Nick loses his job as a journalist in NewYork and shortly later Amy too loses her job and the new found limbo becomes a strange place for them. Nick's folks back home are not doing to well so Nick thinks it is best for them to move to Missouri to help his mom who is fighting cancer and his dad who ends up in a care home.

Amy's folks go through a financial hardship and ask Nick and Amy for some of her trust fund money, most of it to get themselves out of the hole they are lived in. While Amy agrees immediately this is a start the the financial challenges that Nick and Amy will start to experience as a couple who is jobless.

While we know that Amy is gone, missing. We learn that Nick was no longer in love with his wife and she disappears on their 5 year wedding anniversary. Every year Amy has a set of clues like a treasure hunt leading Nick to his gift except he isn't too great at completing these clues over the years, will this be the year that he makes it through all the clues? He does! What is being found is proving to show that Nick must have had something to do with the disappearance of his wife.

I very much enjoyed this novel and needed more. The end for me was uncomfortably satisfying. I would not have minded one more chapter but am ok with the way the Gillian Flynn has chosen to end it.
